Cast of ‘Watchmen’ voice actors revealed for two-part animated film

The voice cast for DC’s upcoming two-part animated adaptation of Guardian has been revealed. The casting information comes hours after Warner Bros. Entertainment released the first redband trailer for the highly anticipated film.




IGN announced Guardians – Chapter I‘s all-star voice castwhich also includes some actors from major franchises, such as war of stars, UnchartedAnd Bosch. Matthew Rhys — known for his leading roles in The American And Perry Mason — Daniel Dreiberg/Nite Owl II will provide his voice, while Bosch star Titus Welliver takes on the role of Walter Kovacs/Rorschach. war of stars Alums Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan) and Corey Burton (Cad Bane) will provide the voice of Laurie Juspeczyk/Silk Spectre II and Captain Metropolis. The celebrated voice actor Troy Baker (The last of us, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End) will provide Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias with his voice, while Adrienne Barbeau — who lent her voice to Catwoman in Batman: The Animated Series — will lend her voice to the original Silk Spectre, Sally Jupiter.

What is Watchmen about?

The adaptation of the acclaimed 12-part limited series by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons, Guardians – Chapter I is set in “an alternate world history dominated by superheroes. Once celebrated ‘costumed adventurers’ have been banished by a society disillusioned with vigilantism,” according to the official synopsis. “Now, in 1985, the murder of The Comedian, a hero turned government agent, catches the attention of Rorschach, the last of the outlawed vigilantes. Rorschach’s investigation draws his retired colleagues Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias into conflict with their pasts, each other and a secret that threatens their lives and a world on the brink of war.”

Running time, MPA rating and more for “Watchmen Chapter I” revealed

While Zack Snyder’s feature-length adaptation of Guardian lasted 163 minutes, Guardians – Chapter I has a much shorter running time of 83 minutes. If Chapter II has a similar running time, the two films together will just overtake the 2009 film with a total running time of 166 minutes. As for the film’s rating by the Motion Picture Association, Chapter I was rated R for “violent content and some explicit nudity.”

Jim Krieg and Cindy Rago are producers of Guardianwith Gibbons on board as consulting producer. Sam Register, Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin are executive producers. The subsequent home video release will feature several bonus features, including interviews with Dave Gibbons and J. Michael Straczynski, as well as two featurettes.

Guardians – Chapter I will be released digitally on August 13th and on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on August 27th. Guardians – Chapter IIwill be released later this year.
