Clinton Co., MI – Woman killed in truck accident on I-96

Clinton Co., MI (June 30, 2024) – A woman lost her life in a fatal accident in Clinton County. The collision occurred on Wednesday, June 26.

According to the police report, a 74-year-old woman was traveling on Interstate 96 in a 2007 Chevrolet Cruze. As she stopped near a construction site on Grange Road, she was struck from behind by a semi-truck at around 1:50 p.m. The force of the impact caused the Chevrolet to slam into a 2020 Land Rover. The Land Rover was then pushed into a second semi-truck driven by a 23-year-old man from Grand Rapids.

The Chevrolet Cruze was crushed between the two semi-trailers and the Land Rover overturned in a ditch. A 62-year-old woman from Rockford was seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The 74-year-old woman was fatally injured and pronounced dead by authorities. Police are currently investigating.
