Giant Kids Exchange consignment sale returns to NC State Fairgrounds

RALEIGH, NC – The Kids Exchange consignment sale at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds is in full swing.

Sellers receive tickets that allow them to shop a day early.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 8–10 July: Submission of articles
  • July 11: Kids Exchange Eve Sale: Open to the public from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., admission $20.
  • July 12th: Public sale: 9am to 6pm. Free admission.
  • July 13: Public sale: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission free.
  • July 14: Public sale: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free admission. Half-price items.
  • July 15: Sellers will collect unsold items between 10am and 1pm

The annual sale is considered the largest children’s thrift sale in North Carolina, with over a mile of clothing racks and 600 tables filled with children’s toys, books, games, baby items and more. Parents and caregivers can purchase items such as car seats, strollers, furniture and sports equipment at prices set by vendors representing over 1,600 families.

Bring a stroller or handcart with you. You need something to put your purchases in and there aren’t always shopping carts available. Consignment sales professionals absolutely have to bring their own cart! I’ve seen many strollers with and without children in them, used to transport clothes (just hang them on the handles) or toys.

Bring a friend. You need someone who will, for lack of a better word, squat on the items you want but are too big to lug around. They can stay with the items while you shop!

Check the expiration date and quality of the items. Sometimes items sold are missing parts or the back for the battery compartment is missing. Car seats have an expiration date. Check this before purchasing.

Go back on the day with half price. Go back and see if there are any items you like. Sometimes you can get great items that were just a little overpriced or out of your budget, but are now much more attractive!
