Iron Horse rail terminal to connect to BNSF and UP service (06/30/2020) – RailPrime | ProgressiveRailroading

Iron Horse Terminals LLC (IHT) rail terminal in Beaumont, Texas, became fully operational earlier this month when it was connected to the Houston Rail Line, operated by BNSF Railway Co. and Union Pacific Railroad.

Located on a 200-acre site in the heart of Southeast Texas’ petrochemical industry, the station features more than 1,300 rail car stalls, a 30-car maintenance facility, a 10-car loading facility and a soon-to-be-operated car wash.

The terminal’s master plan includes 4,500 car parking spaces, a 75-car maintenance facility, 25 acres for transshipment operations, rail-connected warehouses, plastics repackaging facilities and an inland container port, IHT officials said in a press release.

Customers include refineries, chemical plants, plastics plants, aggregates and ready-mixed concrete suppliers as well as large construction projects.

“Our plan is for IHT to become an integral part of the Southeast Texas industry. The size and location of the facility, coupled with the variety and quality of our services, will enable IHT to more efficiently serve the local industry’s supply chain,” said President Steven Birdwell.
