SANDIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities are searching for two suspects who allegedly attempted to kidnap a child in Mission Bay Saturday afternoon.

San Diego police said they received a call shortly before 1:30 p.m. reporting the incident, which occurred in the 1700 block of E Mission Bay Drive.

Police told FOX 5/KUSI that the alleged kidnapping attempt was related to a custody dispute between family members and was not a random act.

One of the suspects is currently in custody, two others are still at large.

Police described the first suspect as a man of Hispanic descent who was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, a camouflage bucket hat, shorts and sunglasses.

The second suspect was also described by police as a Hispanic man, approximately 6 feet tall and believed to be in his 50s. This person was last seen wearing a beige t-shirt and Levis.

The suspects were apparently heading north toward the San Diego Mission Bay Resort, police said.

Authorities are also searching for a firearm, but no shots have been reported in connection with this incident.

Anyone with information regarding this suspected kidnapping attempt or who may have seen the suspects is asked to contact police at 619-531-2000.
