Laurel College of Technology hosts a service week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — Laurel College of Technology kicked off its annual service week this week by accepting monetary donations from two local organizations.

This week the college will donate to WVU Children’s Hospital and Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia.

Events planned for the entire week include lottery ticket drawings, student salons, on-site food trucks and STEM projects for children in the community. These events will take place at the Morgantown campus, located at 200 Wedgewood Drive, just off Van Voorhis Road.

“It teaches students about camaraderie and also being part of the community and making sure they give back as well. It really gives them pride and it’s fun,” said campus president Sherri Rimel.

On Thursday, the college hosts a reading where the children have the opportunity to choose a book to read to them. They can then take the book home and add it to their library.
