KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Kansas City police are investigating a fatal shooting early Sunday morning near the Power and Light District in downtown Kansas City.

According to KCPD, officers were dispatched to the area of ​​12th and Grand Street just before 3:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting.


Upon arrival, officers found a man in a parking lot with apparent gunshot wounds and attempted to perform life-saving measures before emergency responders arrived. When paramedics arrived on the scene, they pronounced the man dead.

According to KCPD, a large crowd gathered in the parking lot immediately before the victim was shot.

Detectives and forensic officers are investigating the case as a murder and are currently collecting evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
