John Jack Malvey

A memorial service for John “Jack” Malvey, a longtime Montclair resident who had a distinguished career in finance and passed away on April 11, 2024, will be held Sunday, September 8, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Il Tulipano, 1131 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove.

Mr. Malvey began his career in finance at Moody’s and subsequently worked for Kidder Peabody, Lehman Brothers and BNY Mellon. Over the course of his career, Mr. Malvey earned the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst and a number of professional honors, including induction into the Fixed Income Analysts Society Hall of Fame in 2003. He was particularly pleased to be named to the Institutional Investor #1 All-Star Team for 13 consecutive years.

During his professional career, he traveled extensively, visiting numerous countries on six continents. He enjoyed sports and was able to continue his love of baseball while playing in an over-40 league. Golf was also a passion, if not a strength, in later years.

Mr. Malvey is survived by his wife, Connie Johnson, his children, Kyra Malvey and Eric Malvey, two brothers, Bill Malvey and Frank Gorman, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Lucy. He was predeceased by his brother, Dick Gorman.

The family appreciates donations in his name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, michaeljfox.org.

Arrangements have been handled by the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park St., moriartyfh.com.
