Woman realizes that her service dog is “manipulating” her Chipotle Stock Alert: Get Ready for the Launch as CMG Reports Earnings Today

GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) – Starting Monday, July 1, passengers in Gastonia will have a new way to get around with the launch of GoGastonia.

GoGastonia is a new on-demand microtransit service that will be available starting at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, July 1.

“We recognized that as our city continues to grow, we need to provide on-demand microtransit service to our citizens,” said Mayor Richard Franks. “This move away from scheduled buses will improve efficiency and increase accessibility for everyone in our community.”

The Gastonia City Transportation Department estimates that the city’s buses are used about 144,000 times annually. The new model is better suited to current riders and others who want to use public transportation.

The new on-demand microtransit service will replace six fixed routes operated by city buses and is intended to expand transit coverage to more parts of the city. The modified service offering will not replace the ADA (paratransit) transportation services provided by the city.

“Via is excited to work with the City of Gastonia to bring better transit coverage and frequency to more people than ever before using Via’s flexible, on-demand technology and operational expertise. GoGastonia will not only provide a more efficient transit experience, but will also help residents easily access everything the city has to offer – whether it’s work, school, healthcare or recreation,” said Jake Bortz, East Coast Partnerships Lead at Via.

The new service includes a fleet of 14 minivans (four of the vans are wheelchair accessible) decorated in bright colors that highlight the GoGastonia logo and brand.
