Medical care can be hard to come by in Humboldt County, especially if you’re uninsured. To help fill the gap in local services, volunteer medical professionals from California CareForce will host a free two-day health clinic next month at the Adorni Center in Eureka.

California CareForce, a nonprofit health organization based in Roseville, will provide a variety of medical services to hundreds of residents at the pop-up clinic, including general health screenings, physical exams, dental extractions, fillings, cleanings and X-rays. An on-site vision lab will offer eye exams and eyeglass lenses.

All services offered are free and provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Clinic visitors do not need proof of insurance, proof of employment, proof of income, proof of residency, immigration status, or identification to receive free services.

“We know that dental, vision and medical care is difficult to obtain in Humboldt County due to cost and access,” Cyndi Ankiewicz, executive director of California CareForce, told the outpost“With the help of our generous local volunteers who donate hundreds of hours to provide services and help organize the clinic, we are here to offer our services to anyone who needs them.”

This is the first time California CareForce is hosting a pop-up health clinic in Humboldt County, and they are still looking for volunteers. Healthcare professionals (doctors, ophthalmologists, optometrists, dentists, dental hygienists, oral surgeons, etc.) can register as volunteers at this link.

On Friday, July 12th and Saturday, July 13th, the Adorni Center will open at 7am. For more information, see the press release below.

For the first time, California CareForce in Humboldt County will provide free dental, vision and medical care to underserved and underinsured individuals and families in Humboldt and surrounding counties. The free clinic will take place on July 12 and 13 at the Adorni Center in Eureka, California. More than 350 volunteer health professionals from across California are expected to provide necessary care to 700 people. All services are FREE; clinic participants do NOT need proof of insurance, proof of employment, proof of income, proof of residency, immigration status or identification to receive them.

An on-site vision lab produces corrective glasses free of charge. Dental care includes x-rays, cleanings, fillings and extractions. Doctors offer consultations and general health checks.

“I am excited to lead this initiative to provide free dental and vision services to our community,” said Dr. Tom Lewis, Chairman of Humboldt Clinic. “The need for services is so great,” continued Dr. Lewis. “There is nothing better than supporting those in need.”

All clinic services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis based on capacity. Patients line up outside and are then directed into the clinic based on the service they require. For more information on how to receive services and what types of services are offered, please call our office at 916-749-4170.

Our clinics are made possible by the generous donations of our sponsors. We would like to especially thank the following: United Concordia Dental, North Coast Grantmaking Partnership, National Vision, Area 1 Agency on Aging and HUUF Endowment Fund for their support.

Professional volunteers are still needed in numerous areas including oral surgeons, dentists, dental hygienists, pharmacists, physicians, ophthalmologists and optometrists. We also need general volunteers to help in all areas of the clinic – no healthcare experience necessary!
