Obituary for Kenny Lee Street 2024

On the morning of Saturday, June 29, 2024, Kenny Lee Street passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He battled valiantly with cancer and other health issues over the years, but was a model of bravery and always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. Kenny was the loving son of Walter Street and Daisy Maria Street of Marion, North Carolina, who predeceased him. He was the younger brother of Roger Street, who passed away in 1991.

The simplest things in life brought Kenny the most joy. At the top of the list was being with his wife Nancy. They loved and cared for each other for over 50 years. They married in 1973 and were blessed with two children, Brian and Sarah. Kenny was a wonderful father, traveling many hours to support his children in sports and extracurricular activities, and he was so proud of the responsible adults they became.

The apple of his eye were his grandchildren Jesse, Allie, Zeb and Gage. He accompanied them in all their activities and was an inspiration to them by his physical presence in their lives and by his life that honored God. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren unconditionally.

Being outdoors, and especially hunting, brought Kenny peace and comfort. He spent countless hours hunting all kinds of game with his son and grandchildren. He especially loved turkey hunting. In 2022, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by hunting in Florida and harvesting the Osceloa turkey, fulfilling his dream of the Grand Slam. His family was with him celebrating his victory.

Kenny retired from Duke Energy in 2016. He served as a Territory Manager and spent many hours on the road for the company. He was a highly respected and trusted employee and made friends that lasted long after his retirement.

When Kenny was asked about his greatest gift in life, he quickly answered, “Accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior.” This decision affected every aspect of his life and determined his path since the age of 13. His family and friends are grateful as Christians and find refuge in the hope of seeing him again.

Surviving are Kenny’s wife Nancy Hollifield Street, his son Brian Street and wife Melissa, his daughter Sarah Street Proctor and husband Rhett, all of Marion, North Carolina, and his grandchildren Jesse Street, Allie Proctor, Zeb Street and Gage Proctor. Many friends and family will also miss him and feel honored to have known Kenny.
