A Ring doorbell camera captured local resident Mickey Weaver attempting to enter her home to seek shelter.

“I just got out of my car and thought I heard fireworks. It was just a loud noise,” Weaver said. “I’m not used to gunshots, so I thought it was fireworks. I assumed everyone heard it.”

According to MNPD, it started with an argument at the public swimming pool. The suspect allegedly said a group of people were being too loud. Then, according to investigators, he left and came back with a gun.

Meanwhile, the group left the pool area, but was caught by the suspect. Investigators say the suspect then shot at the victims’ car and ran away. Apparently no one was hit by gunfire. Chad Bobo lives in the area and hopes to represent them soon.

“Every time I come here, people are outside walking and kids are playing in the pool,” Bobo said. “They’re waving. I’ve never had a problem with anyone in this community.”

He added that he hoped the shooter would be brought to justice. Witnesses said the suspect was a young black man wearing a gray tracksuit. Neighbors claimed they had never seen him before.
