LITCHFIELD – The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attack that left a 50-year-old Olivia man seriously injured and lying on the side of the road southwest of Litchfield.

According to a press release from the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, a report was received at 5:06 p.m. Friday that an injured man was found on the side of the road on 600th Avenue near 230th Street in Litchfield Township.

When officers arrived on scene, they found 50-year-old Galen Serbus lying in the ditch with what appeared to be a stab wound and injuries consistent with a collision with a car.

Serbus was taken by ambulance to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield with serious injuries and then flown by helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

The suspect vehicle has been found and is being examined for evidence, the press release states.

Several suspects have been identified and are being actively sought. Initial investigations indicate that this was a targeted and not a random attack. The investigation is active and ongoing.
