Opening bell: The Lynx suffered their first loss in seven regular-season games on Thursday in Dallas. The Wings shot better and scored more points than any other Lynx opponent this season. The loss dropped the Lynx (13-4) to third place in the WNBA, one game behind Connecticut. Chicago’s two-game winning streak was snapped Thursday in Las Vegas against the up-and-coming Aces. Lynx star Napheesa Collier just posted a double-double with 29 points and 11 rebounds, her second game of the season with 25-plus points and 10 or more rebounds. Bridget Carleton has scored in double figures in five of six games. Center Alanna Smith hit 5 of 7 three-pointers in Dallas, setting her career high for three-pointers. The Sky, featuring big rookies Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese, lead the league with 11.2 offensive rebounds. The Lynx are at the bottom of the league with 10.1 offensive rebounds allowed.

Look at them: This will be the Lynx’s first regular season game against Reese, who was drafted by the Sky as the seventh pick in the WNBA Draft, the spot the Lynx traded down from. On Thursday in Las Vegas, Reese recorded her ninth consecutive double-double, tying Candace Parker for the most consecutive double-doubles in a season. She and Collier are two of only four players to average a double-double this season. Reese is averaging 30.5 minutes, 13.5 points, 11.1 rebounds and 40.9% shooting.

Injuries: Lynx G/F Diamond Miller (knee) returned to action for the first time since May in Thursday’s game in Dallas.

Forecast: The Lynx need to rebound defensively after their performance in Dallas. One key will be better play on the defensive boards, which is a difficult task against one of the best rebounding teams in the league.
