USCB selects Huff as 2024 head of women’s soccer

BLUFFTON – Following the departure of coach Jay Harris, assistant coach Dan Huff was named interim coach for the 2024 season.

“I am so grateful for Dan and his willingness to take the initiative since Jay’s departure,” said Athletic Director Quin Monahan. “From day one, he has been positive, team-oriented and enthusiastic. In his time here, Dan has earned the respect of the team and the entire coaching staff and I am confident he will lead our program well. I look forward to the upcoming season under Coach Huff’s leadership.”

Huff joined the women’s soccer team prior to the start of last season and worked with the team’s goalkeepers. Under Huff’s guidance, the Sand Sharks’ goalkeepers finished the season with a 1.15 goals-against average and a .804 save percentage en route to a season-best 13-4-2 record.

“I am honored and privileged to be given the opportunity to lead the women’s soccer program this upcoming season,” Huff said. “I want to thank both Quin and Genia, as well as the rest of the athletic staff, for the belief and trust they have placed in me.”

Coach Huff is a native of Blunham, England, and graduated from Lyon College with a degree in Physical Education, where he played three seasons as a goalkeeper for the Fighting Scots men’s soccer team. During those three seasons, he logged over 2,400 minutes between the posts, making 94 saves and compiling an overall record of 9-10-1 while recording seven shutouts.

The Sand Shark will take the field on Saturday, September 5th when they face Southern Wesleyan.

“I look forward to continuing to build on the foundation laid by Coach Harris and playing another incredible season with such a fantastic group of student-athletes. Fins up!”
