Life in the Torah in Russia is celebrated in Italy

Hundreds of supporters of Jewish life in Russia gathered in an ancient castle outside Rome, Italy, for the wedding of the son of the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar.

In an ancient castle built over 600 years ago, dozens of benefactors and friends from Russia and around the world gathered to express their appreciation and support for the Torah institutions in Russia, founded by the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar, whose son, Rabbi Levi Yitzchok, married Draizy Raskinthe daughter of Rabbi Hirshel Raskin, Mashpia at the Mesivta in Montreal, Canada.

Hundreds of years after the Talmud burning in Italy, the country experienced an uplifting event celebrating the revival of Jewish life in Russia. The sounds of Torah learning and Hasidism now echo day and night, with the encouragement and support of the government, which supports the hundreds of shluchim led by the Chief Rabbi, making sure that every Jew in Russia feels comfortable.

The wedding took place in Italy in honor of the Chosson’s grandfather, the long-time Shliach Rabbi. Moshe Lazarwho served as Mesader Kiddushin. The Chuppap took place in the courtyard of the impressive castle near Lake Bracciano.

During the solemn moments in the chuppah, tefilos were offered for our brothers in the Holy Land and especially for the prisoners. Representatives of families with Russian citizenship – who have received support from Rabbi Lazar for the past nine months – were invited to the wedding to give them courage until the great news of their release with Hashem’s help arrived.

The event, hosted by Fleischman-Peles Events, lasted until the early hours of the morning, with joyful dancing by prominent benefactors and numerous guests from around the world. Special participants included Rabbi Chaim Danzinger, the Shlyach and Rabbi of Rostov, Rabbi Shmuel Kuperman, the Shlyach and Rabbi of the Chistye Prudy district of Moscow, as well as institute directors from Moscow, family members and many friends.
